Hack4Cancer Hackathon!

Registration is Closing Soon- September 25th, 2019

On November 2, 2019, join the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer and Statistics Canada at the Hack4Cancer Hackathon – taking place this November 2nd in Ottawa, one day ahead of the Canadian Cancer research Conference.

The Hack4Cancer Hackathon is an all-day data analysis contest where teams will use brand-new, linked cancer data to come up with innovative and actionable research ideas for improving health equity in the cancer system.

  • Winners will receive up to $2500 (1st place, team of 5), plus the opportunity to present to top researchers and cancer experts at the 2019 Canadian Cancer Research Conference
  • Meals and refreshments are covered for the day and all participants receive a welcome bag

Participants will compete in a time-limited and team-based analysis using a synthetic dataset prepared by Statistics Canada. The synthetic dataset is intended to mimic the real datasets that link the Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR) with other administrative datasets containing socioeconomic, treatment and death information on individuals diagnosed with cancer in Canada. The real linked datasets will soon be available in Statistics Canada’s Research Data Centres in early 2020. This brand-new, groundbreaking CCR data linkage allows researchers to analyze disparities in cancer control using data at the individual level, which has never before been possible.
